I'm quite used to teaching children how to bake and decorate but not so with adults! I'm hoping that one day I can share my decorating techniques with you too! Maybe one day I'll have some video tutorials on here *gulp* it's a bit of a scary thought really, just wait until you hear my voice! It's not so bad (I don't think) in person (come to think of it, is it?) but on recorded things like phones or videos I honestly sound like a four year old girl with pig tails and a slight lisp, embarrassing! Hmm, maybe I can talk someone out there to narrate my videos? David Attenborough? Are you reading this? (HAHA imagine if he was!) In any case, that is a while away, if ever!
Update: I've made some very simple cupcake decorating tutorials, one of which is for a rose cupcake, the same as the last photo on this blog post. To check it out see the link above called Tutorials. Enjoy!

Here are some beautiful rose cupcakes I found on Pinterest recently. I love roses, I love them in real life, I love them in bunches, I love them from my husband (hint hint), I love them for no reason (hint hint hint), I love them on cakes and I love them on cupcakes! You can find these, plus many more exquisite cupcakes on my Pinterest board, funnily enough named Cupcakes.

Those are beautiful Lydia! Esp love the first one. What tip do you use for that? xAlice
ReplyDeleteHey Alice!
DeleteThey are pretty eh! I have never tried that first design, it's lovely isn't it. I suspect a rose tip, like one that is fat at the bottom and thin at the top (same as ruffle tip), but could be a leaf tip? Will have to experiment!
Hi Lydia,
ReplyDeleteI've just found your blog and love it! New follower right here :)

Hello Caroline!
DeleteAwh thank you so much! I've had a sneak peek at your blog too, loved it. Then I noticed you're semi-related to Lucy Olive and Rachael McMahon? (blogs I follow) Haha! Small world! Don't you love the blogging world!
hey! cupcakes are beautiful! how was the icing prepared in the last one? :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a 1M or 2D tip filled with red buttercream (looks a bit runny) then you just pipe a circle around but starting in the centre, the tip will make it look like a rose. They have attached a fondant leave to the sides too which is cute! It's so stunning in red don't you think!
DeleteHi! i'm enchanted by those designs! how do you do the 3rd and the 4th?
ReplyDeleteHi Leonela,
DeleteI didn't make these but the third and fourth ones are both fondant flowers (it looks like it anyway) I usually look on You Tube, there are tonnes of great fondant rose tutorials on there!
